Custom Printed Bandanas: Sizes, Fabric and Pricing
A bandana is a versatile square scarf: tie it on the head, wear it round the neck or wrist, or knot it on a bag strap. For teams, clubs and events, a custom logo bandana is a branded accessory that costs less than a shirt, weighs almost nothing, is easy to hand out and fits everyone. This guide helps you pick a size, understand the printing and estimate the cost before you order.

What logo bandanas are used for
- Team building and teams: one color per team, tied on the head or wrist to split teams quickly without ordering extra shirts.
- Running, cycling and touring clubs: keeps dust and sweat off and shows the club identity for the whole ride.
- Concerts, festivals, artist merch: affordable merch that sells alongside tickets or works as an audience giveaway.
- Cafe, bar and barbershop uniforms: a head or neck scarf in brand colors, paired with a custom logo apron.
- Branded gifts: a small gift for customers, partners or conference guests.
Choosing a bandana size
| Size | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 55×55 cm | Neck, head, wrist | The most common bandana size; folded into a triangle it fits an adult neck |
| 65×65 cm | Head wrap for long hair, roomier neck wear | Extra fabric for a bigger knot and longer tails |
| 70×70 cm | Neck wrap, bag strap, cover cloth | Suits large, all-over patterns |
| 90×90 cm | Shawl, wide wrap, wall hanging | The largest size, like a square silk scarf |
Every size up to 90×90 cm is on the same price list, and one order can mix sizes — for example 55 cm for members and a 90 cm banner-style scarf for the team.
Fabric and printing
Bandanas are dye-sublimated on one side on polyester: the ink turns to gas and bonds into the fibers instead of sitting on top, so the scarf stays soft, never peels in the wash, and can carry photos, gradients and all-over patterns. The background color is printed from your file too, so any color works. The reverse side shows a lighter image — normal for a one-side print. See sublimation printing.
Hem: folded or overlocked
- Folded, no visible stitching: the factory prints an extra ~1 cm border in the design’s dominant color and folds it to the back. The front stays clean; each edge of the design loses about 1 cm.
- Overlocked edge: a ~4–5 mm thread band runs round all four sides, visible on both faces — the traditional bandana look.
Design tips
- Keep text and key logos at least 3 cm from the edge, so the hem or knot doesn’t hide them.
- The classic layout: a framing border + a repeat pattern in the middle + 4-way symmetric corners — whichever way it’s tied, a good corner shows.
- Folded into a triangle for the neck, only half the scarf shows, rotated 45°: put the main logo in one corner, upright for how it’s worn, not in the dead center.
- Use the original logo file (transparent PNG or vector); images saved from the web pixelate when enlarged — see why web images print pixelated.
Design and preview in 3D before ordering
In Bandana Studio the canvas matches the real scarf size: pick a background color and pattern (classic border, frame, polka dot, check, diagonal stripe), upload a logo or photo, and switch on all-over repeat or 4-corner symmetry. The 3D view shows the bandana flat, folded into a triangle or worn round the neck, including the folded or overlocked hem. Short on ideas?
