Custom Printed Flags: Single or Double Layer, Sizes and Prices
A logo flag is visible from further away than any shirt: planted at a team-building camp, hung at an event booth, waved in the stands or held up to lead a tour group. Before you order, answer three questions: what size, single or double layer, and how it will hang.

What custom flags are used for
- Team-building and sports days: one flag per team for rallying, photos and marking the camp.
- Company and office flags: for the lobby, meeting rooms, reception, or a desk flag when hosting partners.
- Events, openings and trade fairs: marking a booth, an entrance or a stage.
- Classes, clubs, football teams and fans: stand flags, keepsake flags, graduation photo flags.
- Tour guide flags: held up so a group can spot its guide in a crowd.
Choosing a flag size
| Size | Best for |
|---|---|
| 40×60 cm | Hand flags, desk flags, tour guide flags |
| 60×90 cm | Fan flags, room or office wall flags |
| 80×120 cm | Team flags, event flags, campsites |
| 100×150 cm | Pole flags, stages, event gates, stands |
All four sizes share a 2:3 ratio, so one design works at every size without reworking the layout — handy when the same event needs both hand flags and a large hanging flag.
Single layer or double layer?
| Standard single layer | Premium double layer | |
|---|---|---|
| Construction | Sublimated on one layer of polyester flag fabric | Two printed layers sewn back to back |
| Reverse side | Shows the image mirrored and lighter | Text and logo read correctly on both sides |
| Sizes | 40×60, 60×90, 80×120, 100×150 cm | 80×120 and 100×150 cm |
| Best for | Hand flags, wall flags, waving flags | Flags hung mid-walkway, event gates, flags seen from both sides |
A simple rule: if viewers stand on one side (wall flag, stage flag), single layer is enough. If the flag hangs in open space and its text must read from both sides, choose double layer.
Fabric and printing
Flags are dye-sublimated on lightweight polyester flag fabric that flies well in the wind. The ink bonds into the fibers, so colors are vivid, never peel, and photos and gradients print as easily as a simple logo. All four edges are hemmed so the fabric doesn’t fray. See sublimation printing.
How the flag hangs
- A pole sleeve sewn along the left edge: slide a wooden pole in and it’s ready — for hand flags and planted flags.
- A rope channel sewn along the left edge: thread a rope through to tie it to a pole, railing or stage frame.
- Startee doesn’t punch grommets into flags. Prices exclude the pole.
Design tips for flags that read from afar
- Few words, big letters, strong contrast: flags are seen from tens of meters away while moving; small text goes unread.
- Place the logo and key text slightly toward the pole: in light wind the tail droops first, while the pole side stays taut and visible.
- Keep text and logos at least 3 cm from the edge, and clear of the left edge — that’s where the sleeve or rope channel is sewn.
- On a single-layer flag the reverse text is mirrored. If text must read from both sides, choose double layer rather than forcing a symmetric layout.
Design and watch it fly in 3D
In Flag Studio the canvas is a true 2:3 flag with a safe-zone guide: pick a background color, upload a logo or photo, add text and switch on an all-over repeat for patterns. The 3D view shows the flag flying on a pole or hanging flat, and you can turn it round to check the reverse — mirrored on a single layer, readable on a double layer.
