Uniform size chart: how to pick sizes for a team

Ordering uniforms for a whole team — a company, a class, a group — is rarely hard because of the design; it’s hard because getting the right size for dozens of different body types is easy to get wrong, and finding out after a bulk order ships costs both time and exchange hassle. Standard adult size chart (S–3XL)

This is Startee’s official reference chart — if someone falls between two rows, or prefers a looser fit than the standard cut, size up by one. Pique (100% cotton) fabric can shrink by about 3–5% after the first wash — that shrinkage is already accounted for in the chart above, no need to size up for it separately.

The same chart applies to t-shirts, polos, hoodies and sweaters, since these products share the same base pattern and differ mainly in collar style and fabric.

Kids’ size chart (family days, company events)

For orders that include children — a family day, a company event with staff’s kids — sizing is based on weight and chest measurement instead of height, since kids of the same age can vary widely in height:

Collecting sizes for a large team

For an order of a few dozen people or more, the most effective approach is an internal survey form (Google Forms or similar) where each person enters their own height/weight and matches it against the chart above, rather than measuring everyone in person. It is faster and avoids the errors that come with converting a tape-measured chest circumference — which tends to vary between whoever is doing the measuring, and can make people uncomfortable being measured at the workplace.

Why height/weight instead of chest measurement

Traditional tailoring uses chest/waist measurements — more precise for one person, but hard to apply to a team order since it means measuring everyone in person with a tape, which takes time and not everyone has that number on hand. Startee converts to height and weight instead, since these are two numbers almost everyone already knows without measuring again — a better fit when sizing needs to be collected for dozens to hundreds of people in a short window, especially when staff work remotely or across multiple branches and can’t gather for an in-person measurement.

Because the chart is based on height and weight — two numbers everyone already knows — the fastest way to collect sizes for a team order is to gather each person’s height/weight (through an online form or an internal survey) and match it against the chart, instead of measuring everyone’s chest/waist with a tape the way traditional tailoring does. This meaningfully shortens the time needed to size an order for anywhere from a dozen to a few hundred people.
