Print on Demand — US Market (POD Dropship)
Startee previously provided print-on-demand production for brands and sellers running dropshipping on international marketplaces (mainly the US market) — each online order corresponded to one product printed and packed individually, with no pre-built inventory.
How POD differs from traditional manufacturing
- No minimum quantity per design — a design that sells only a single unit can still be produced.
- Order turnaround time must be fast and consistent, since it’s tied directly to the end customer’s buying experience.
- Products must comply with CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) — the US consumer product safety regulation that applies especially to children’s products.
- Packaging follows international shipping standards and can be white-labeled to a brand’s own specifications.
DTG and DTF — the two techniques best suited to POD
DTG and DTF were the two technologies Startee used most for POD, since neither needs a screen setup — both are cost-effective even when a design sells only a single unit. See DTG Printing and DTF Printing for detail.
How CPSIA applies
CPSIA is a US consumer product safety law that applies to children’s products imported into that market — the Innobella ink Startee uses for DTG is certified to OEKO-TEX ECO PASSPORT. See is DTG ink safe for children for the full explanation.
